This made me laugh on first reading, because it felt true, and unfair to the losers! But there are also strong threads of history told by the ‘losers’ and the defeated, keeping alive their spirit and identity in the face of loss. Like the Scots’ beautiful Jacobite laments. This kind of thread can make the winners always evil.
