I love this! It captures a sense of freedom of choice in any moment, and at the same time that all those apparently tiny choices create a path through life, which somehow has its own momentum that draws us on. It feels close to what I understand about karma from a Buddhist perspective. We are free to choose in each moment, and our choices do shape our lives profoundly. Where we lose freedom is when our heartbeat choices follow habitual patterns. Then we seem to be led down well worn grooves! We can change these patterns radically at any moment – IF we can escape the momentum of our habits.
